PERFECT VANILLA CUPCAKES WITH CUSTARD BUTTERCREAM


These are absolutely perfect vanilla cupcake topped with a creamy custard buttercream.

Servings: 18 cupcakes

Ingredients
For the Perfect Vanilla Cupcakes
  • 275 g plain flour
  • 53 g cornflour
  • 1 3/4 cups white granulated sugar
  • 180 g butter, melted
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract or paste (see notes)
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 4 large eggs, room temp
  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temp


For the Custard Buttercream
  • ¼ cup custard powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 230 g 1 cup / 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons cream or milk (see notes)
